I was lucky enough to see one of MR dressups last live performance in early 2001. Not long before he passed. I was 5 or had just turned 6 I don't remember much of the show but I do remember after the show kids got to go up and meet MR Coombs and see the Tickle Trunk and get a picture. I was scared and just about missed out. As we were leaving I told my mom I wanted to go up and meet him. My mom actually took me back in after everyone had left and MR Coombs was still there cleaning up. My mom spoke to him and in a completely empty theater I got to meet him and shake his hand and touch the Tickle Trunk. I still have that picture my mom took standing with MR dressups in front of the Tickle Trunk. I watched his show on reruns like many Canadians for years. I'll never forget that. RIP MR Coombs thank you for years of enjoyment. If I'm ever Lucky enough to have children your show will be in their lives as well

I had to watch 2 commercials to watch this commercial, and they are telling me at mickys that this Burgers isn't even available anymore. I started yelling at several people to make the burger on the ad. The police were called. I will be writing to the CEO.

This commercial was likely produced by CHEX-TV Peterborough back in the day. Peterborough Square was a focal point in the city since its opening in '75. Times change and 'the Square' was cheapened by the advent of 'grey market stores' in the late 90s. That doesn't matter now as Peterborough Square was 'the place to be' for a generation when real Canadians were invested in this country.

I was born in '76, but grew up initially in southwestern Quebec. None of these commercials look and/or sound familiar. I had a B&W TV in my room at my foster parents' house, and I got the following on antenna from Ontario: CHCH 11 out of Hamilton, I don't remember what channel 8's call sign was but it was out of Ottawa and I believe that I got TVO on 13 but don't remember. The other stations I got were: CFCF 12 (CTV), 5 (CBC), 2 (French station), and U-57 (PBS). The colour TV in the living room was on aerial and got the aforementioned stations, plus ABC, CBS, NBC, and the precursor to Fox at the time it was WUTV 22.

When the first promotional picture was taken of the truck the "dish" affixed to the roof was not a proper microwave uplink dish. It was in fact a garbage can lid, painted white as a substitute because they couldn't get the real thing in time for the photo shoot.

Grew up in Flemington and we'd often go to the Science Center whenever it was free. I have fond memories when the "Sports" section was first opened. I really love the displays and the toboggan simulator, and my brothers would always line up to test their throwing speed at the pitching mound.

See kids? This is how great things were when your parents were your age, many decades ago. When governments actually gave a shit about the public sphere. This is what a something that is in state of good repair looks like. No well run public spaces for you though. That’s too much to ask.
